Question:
My child commonly reverses letters such as E and Z, and
makes his 3's backward. He is otherwise very bright. How can
TURBO-TUTOR help him?
Answer: TURBO-TUTOR
will very quickly straighten out his laterality problem. He probably
also gets confused between left and right. The Which Way game and
the Where am I games are the answer.
Question: I have
tried other programs such as Phonics programs and they don't seem to
be the answer. What is different about TURBO-TUTOR?
Answer: Phonics only teaches us to
sound out words. It is obvious that to be a literate person we need
to understand both phonics and whole language. Otherwise read and
reed become the same word, and you get people who spell sentences
such as "Fonix shure wurked good fore me".
TURBO-TUTOR teaches a logical approach to reading, math concepts,
logical thinking, and above all implants basic learning skills.
Question: My child has some learning
problems, although he is very bright. He is difficult to
manage and rejects almost every program the school tries with him.
His behavior is driving me nuts. Can TURBO-TUTOR help a child like
this?
Answer: Yes. When kids aren't doing as
well as they want to do, and their peers are hitting on them for
failing, they suffer from impaired self-images. They compensate in
many ways and often times it takes the form of unacceptable or
difficult behavior. With TURBO-TUTOR the quick success they
experience rebuilds self-esteem and their behavior improves
dramatically both in school and in home.
Question: My 3rd grader is on (a
commonly prescribed drug for ADD/ADHD). It quiets him down for
school but it also seems to cause some personality changes. He seems
quieter, less motivated and almost lackadaisical about things. I am
looking for a way to get back the fun-loving kid I love so much.
Answer: Kids are too often put
on drugs like this to control them for the teacher's benefit. When
parents play TURBO-TUTOR with their kids they often find that they
can wean the child off those drugs and that once the child learns to
concentrate and starts to do better that he has no need to return to
the drugs. We suggest you tell your pediatrician what you are doing
and ask him to monitor a reduction and eventual cessation of those
drugs.
Question: My daughter can read
quite well but she seems to have a real problem with arithmetic. Do
you have a math program available?
Answer: TURBO-TUTOR includes basic
mathematical skills including counting, addition, subtraction and
multiplication. In many ways it acts as a reversion to the old ways
of rote memorization of tables, and that type of repetition is
essential to math fluency and understanding the relationship of
numerical values.
Question: My spouse can not read. She
is embarrassed to join an adult illiteracy program and while she is
very capable in so many ways this seriously bothers her. Can I use
TURBO-TUTOR with an adult?
Answer: TURBO-TUTOR is used quite
successfully with adults to teach reading skills. The skills are the
same whether the learner is 6 years old or 60. Adult illiteracy is a
huge problem today, and you can start to overcome it in the privacy
of your own home. No one need ever know.
Question: My son is doing quite well
in school and would like to do even better. He's pretty
motivated already, and takes karate lessons and piano. He
isn't terribly coordinated otherwise. Will TURBO-TUTOR be of
any help to him?
Answer: While
TURBO-TUTOR is primarily designed to help kids achieve up to the
level of their abilities, we know that when it is used by kids who
are already doing well that they reach new heights of achievement.
It has been shown to help in improving musical and athletic
performance as well, attributable to improved concentration skills.
Question: How early can I start
using TURBO-TUTOR with my little one?
Answer: As
early as the child can be read to, can understand simple spoken
instructions, and can enjoy playing games with you. TURBO-TUTOR is
the most effective pre-school program which will give your child a
real jump start.
Question: If TURBO-TUTOR is so
good, how come my child's school doesn't use it?
Answer: TURBO-TUTOR is designed
as a one-on-one program where an adult plays a game with a learner.
Unfortunately the schools don't have the resources to devote
one-on-one time with students over an extended period of time. But
Special Education teachers who have seen and used TURBO-TUTOR say
they would use it at home with their own children if they had a
learning difficulty.
Question: I don't have a
computer at home. Is this a problem?
Answer: Not at all. TURBO-TUTOR
is not a computer based program. It is a program of games in which
you and your child actually enjoy some time together. You'll find
the bonding process very rewarding as you bask in the glow of his
achievements.
Question: Is TURBO-TUTOR
adaptable for home schooling?
Answer: Yes. Many home schoolers use
TURBO-TUTOR. Home schoolers are deeply involved with the education
of their children. And the instances of learning difficulties among
the home schooling population is no less than in the general
population. The Reader is non-denominational and acceptable to all
home schoolers.
